We also host special guest speakers to learn more about illnesses, includes support groups to meet others who are living with life threatening illness for access to mental/physical health services, couples and family counseling, stress management & relaxation program to reduce anxiety, group exercise, nutrition groups and individual consultations and much more. Our goal is for all people impacted by illnesses empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action, and sustained by community.
AOLV was founded with a firestorm raging in our hearts and a greater understanding of what it takes to support someone fighting cancer and other types of illnesses. Those who have survived the dreadful ordeal know it does not end when treatment stops. Cancer invades, turns lives upside down, reaks all kinds of havoc, and the financial burdens can be devastating. "Life altering" can be an understatement during and after treatment. Although great strides have been made in finding more effective treatments for some cancers, its wrath is relentless, causing much disruption in the lives of our loved ones. At AOLV we will not find a cure or raise money to find a cure, rather, we are in the trenches with people as they navigate a diagnosis and treatment, offering tools to restore healing, manage stress, and instill hope.
Our GIVE A CHILD HOPE Toy Drive provides thousands of toys to the children and families that will be in the hospital and homeless shelters during the holiday time. A gift of toys, crafts, games, and supplies can make a big difference to the children and families spending time in the hospital, especially during the holidays. For many years we have been partnering with local hospitals and shelters by donating thousands of toys for children with all types of illnesses and/or subjected to homelessness. Every year the hospital team gets so excited to see the smiles on childrens faces while receiving gifts from Santa Claus and our volunteers. Our annual clothing drive provides used clothes to the families in need in our community. Thousands of men, women and children with cancer and alopecia get a wig and hair system donation while going through treatments.
The work we do would not be possible without the support and generosity of those individual and Corporations partners. AOLV has been fortunate to receive use items from individuals by organizations annual Clean Out Your Closet Event and donations from McCarran International Airport's from the Lost and Found Division 4 times a year to ensure used cloth and unclaimed items find a youth to benefit the Southern Nevada community by organizing Cloth, toys and luggages Sale at our newly open GOOD CAUSE THRIFT STORE.
